sulfur mine
Io-yama (硫黄山) is an active volcano with an elevation of 1,317 meters located in the Ebino Plateau in Ebino City, Miyazaki Prefecture. Located northwest of Mt. Korea, it is the newest volcano in the Kirishima mountain range.
In the past, fumaroles were actively observed, and from 1897 to 1955, sulfur was extracted by cooling the fumaroles, and the remains of the masonry inside the crater can still be seen.
