Takachiho Town is located in the Kyushu Mountains at the northern tip of Miyazaki Prefecture. We will guide you to the power spots in this town, which is believed to be the place of Ninigi's descent from the heavenly grandson in Japanese mythology.

(1) Takachiho Shrine
It was founded about 1,900 years ago during the reign of Emperor Taruhito. It is the general shrine of 88 shrines in Takachiho. In the precincts of the shrine, there is a stone called "Shizumeishi," which was placed at Ise Jingu Shrine and Takachiho Shrine by order of Emperor Taruhito, and is said to be able to calm down disturbances in the world and human troubles by praying with a wish. -
(2)Takachiho Gorge
The Gokase River flows out of the Aso Volcano, and the rapid cooling of the river has created a gorge with wonderful columnar-jointed cliffs.
Takachiho Gorge was designated as a scenic beauty and natural monument on November 10, 1934.
Nearby are Manai Falls, selected as one of the 100 best waterfalls in Japan, and Yarihobi Bridge.
Boats are available for rent so that visitors can experience the power of the falls up close. -
(3)-1: Amano-Iwato Shrine (Amano no Yasukawara)
This shrine enshrines Ama-no-Iwato, where Amaterasu-Omikami (Goddess of Amaterasu) was enshrined.
Ama-no-Iwato, the sacred body of the deity, can be viewed from the West Main Shrine (application required).
There is an ogatama tree in the precincts of the shrine. It is said that when Amaterasu no Mikoto (Amaterasu's mother) hid behind Iwato, she danced with a branch of Ogatama in her hand. -
(3)-2: Magaba
A spectacular viewpoint located at the tip of Cape Hyuga.
There are two observation decks, one at Umaga-back and the other at the precipice of Umaga-back. The "Maga-back Cliff" has a glass observation platform called "Skeletcha! is installed on the "Maga-back Cliff," offering a spectacular view that will give you a thrilling experience. -
(3)-2: Oomikami Shrine
It is popularly known as "Hyuga no Oise-sama" (the Ise Shrine of Hyuga), and visitors can see the "Sazare-ishi" (a small stone with a small stone on top), which is mentioned in the national anthem "Kimigayo," and the "Ryu-no-tama," which is said to be the remains of ancient people's belief in the dragon god.
