Highlights of this course

  • (1) Single Pillar Torii (from car window)

Half of the torii gate of Sanno Shrine, which was located approximately 900 meters from the hypocenter, was ripped off in the blast. It still stands today as it was when it survived the tragedy of the atomic bombing. Its appearance seems to be a silent appeal for the preciousness of peace.
  • (2) Peace Park

The right hand pointing to the heavens expresses the horror of the atomic bombing, the horizontally outstretched left hand expresses peace, and the closed eyes express the hope that the victims of the atomic bombing will rest in peace. The Peace Statue by the late Seibo Kitamura, a native of Nagasaki Prefecture, and other monuments presented by various countries are a silent protest against the atomic bombing and a wish for eternal peace.
  • (iii) West Sea Bridge

This arch bridge spans the Inoura Seto (Hario Seto) between Hario Island in Sasebo City and Nishihono-cho in Saikai City, Nagasaki Prefecture. It was built to connect the Nishisonogi Peninsula and Sasebo City, which had long been "isolated islands on land," by land, and to promote industry and development on the peninsula.

On December 23, 2020, the bridge was designated as a National Important Cultural Property, the first bridge constructed after the war.
  • Huis Ten Bosch

This is a stay-and-go resort where beautiful seasonal flowers bloom in the vast grounds facing the scenic Omura Bay, and the canals that wind through the stately brick townscape provide peace and relaxation.
There are many attractions and experiences to enjoy the whole day!

The night view, which won first place in the national illumination ranking for three consecutive years, is something to see at least once.
